Sand Hollow Resort “Lit the Night” with fireworks and raised over $5,000

(Hurricane, Utah) Sand Hollow Resort held its annual Light the Night fundraising event this past weekend to help fulfill Christmas needs of families in the Hurricane Valley. The event consisted of a festive firework display, horse-drawn carriage rides, bon fires, s’mores, doughnuts, hot chocolate, and entertainment. Hundreds of  people from the community pariticpated, and their entry fees benefitted local families in need, including those participating in the Sub for Santa program offered through the United Way of Utah County and supported by Hurricane High School and other local schools.

“We have several children in the community who go without food, warm clothes and general needs this time of year. With participation from the community and businesses, like Sand Hollow Resort, we can really bless some lives and get our students involved in a good cause,” said Jon Homer, Counselor at Hurricane High School. “Our students have organized a selection process and take care of all the logistics. It is good for them to see hands on how a community coming together can make a difference,” Homer added.

Sand Hollow also hosted a charity Golf Tournament, which contributed to the funds raised. Additionally, sponsors including Cherry Creek Radio Group, S & S Steel Fabrication, Inc., Building Contractors of Southern Utah, Lin’s, Walmart, and St. George Event Rentals contributed to help cover the costs so that all proceeds went to the families.

“Giving back to the communities where we do business is an important part of our mission,” stated Robert Roche, co-owner of Sand Hollow Resort and President of Roche Enterprises. “It is extremely fulfilling to lend support to those in need within the local community, especially at this time of year.
