Blair Wins Third Annual Sand Hollow Open
Zac Blair, PGA tour member and Utah native, won $18,000 as the winner of The 2016 Sand Hollow Open Presented by the Leavitt Group. Head Golf Pro at The Golf Course at Sand Hollow, Adam Jasperson, and Open sponsor, Mark Leavitt, presented Blair the check, the second-highest winnings of any Utah tournament outside of the Web.Com Tour’s Utah Championship.
“We were thrilled to present one of the highest first place checks in Utah golf this year,” commented Jasperson. “The Sand Hollow Open attracts many of the best-known names in Utah golf. We had a strong field including Zac, who was the defending champion.”
Blair’s dramatic 50-foot eagle putt on the par 5 17th hole of The Championship Course at Sand Hollow put him in the playoff, and after a par on the 18th hole to finish at 14-under, he went on to win. The Utah native is happy to give back to a golf course that helped his early development as a player. “My putt on the 17th hole was good all the way. I didn’t know it was going in until about four feet out and that’s when I raised my putter and walked it in,” explained Blair.
In its third year, the Sand Hollow Open attracted many of the best-known names in Utah golf, including marquee players like Blair, former Brigham Young University teammates Joe Parkinson, Justin Keiley, and Jordan Rodgers, and Utah Open champions Zahkai Brown and Nick Mason. “We were excited to welcome these outstanding players and showcase our beautiful property,” stated Robert W. Roche, President of Roche Enterprises and owner of the resort. “In addition, we are thrilled to raise funds for Utah Foster care, a nationally-recognized non-profit organization and the tournament’s charity beneficiary.”
