When traveling, checking out local restaurants and new foods is an adventure in itself. Southern Utah is home to many family-owned, local restaurants and unique locations for every meal. Coming from a local, some of the best spots are the ones you can’t find by simply Googling “Breakfast near me.” If you’re willing to try something new, here are some of our favorite breakfast locations (besides breakfast in bed) not too far from the resort.
The Grille at Sand Hollow Resort
Right here at the resort, we are lucky enough to have our own dining location open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Peter, our chef, has hand-selected the perfect menu to please anyone. Not to mention The Grille is conveniently located right outside your door. Because Sand Hollow Resort is located in the heart of red rock country, every table boasts a view, especially if you take advantage of a crisp morning on the patio. The Grille is located in our clubhouse, considered “The Most Beautiful Clubhouse in Utah,” which deserves a peek. If you haven’t dropped by the clubhouse or The Grille, you’re in for a treat, both for your stomach and your eyes!
Are you feeling a quick coffee and a pastry on your way to Zion National Park? The perfect coffee shop perched on a cliff overlooking the Virgin River is just around the corner in the nearby town of La Verkin. They offer a variety of fresh roasted coffee, espresso drinks, and homemade baked goods. Everything on their menu is locally grown and baked from scratch daily. Drop by their service window, or if you plan to stay awhile, pick a table on the patio and admire the view. If you’re searching for something for dinner, this is also a great spot to grab a beer and share a pizza with your friends and family.
St. George is just a short distance from the resort. The Crepery, located near Snow Canyon State Park, is a great place to grab a beverage and a light meal before heading out for a hike. Their menu features savory and sweet crepes and an array of coffees and teas. Try their Mac Daddy for a modern take on a traditional breakfast; their dill sauce is to die for! Or, if you’re looking for something on the sweet side, try the Nutie Frutie with Nutella and your choice between bananas or strawberries. With multiple locations in Southern Utah and one in Colorado, FeelLove has been a new addition to Southern Utah in recent years, but it sure has found its place among the local favorites. St. George has two convenient locations, one in the heart of the city and the other on the South side. Just recently, Cafe FeelLove reached Ivins (just 30 minutes from the resort) with a location just outside of Snow Canyon State Park. The last and most unique of their locations is less than a mile from the entrance of Zion National Park. Each location is perfectly placed for your adventures while visiting Southern Utah. Take your coffee to go, or take a seat and appreciate the eclectic energy the staff and other patrons provide. A local family-owned patisserie called Farmstead is located in St. George, just a short drive from Sand Hollow Resort. A patisserie is a European-style bakery with various pastries and other baked goods. If breakfast sounds like pastries and coffee, this spot is for you! This space surrounds you with warm energy that reminds you of home, which is sure to cure your homesickness while on vacation.
