Every bride dreams of the picture-perfect wedding, and those dreams can become reality at Sand Hollow Resort! Whether you choose to say “I do” in a gorgeous desert cover surrounded by towering red sandstone, or you prefer a more intimate spot on the Sand Hollow Resort property, you are sure to remember the special day forever.
Choosing the perfect venue is just the first step in planning a destination wedding at Sand Hollow Resort.
1. Select the venue
Planning starts with picking a venue that suits the mood and style you want for your special day. Sand Hollow Resort offers a variety of venues that each lend a unique feel to your wedding. Our venue coordinator can help you choose the perfect one.
2. Send out “Save the Dates” well in advance
When planning a destination wedding, organization and preparedness are key. To be considerate of your guests and to allow them ample time to save up and plan to attend the wedding, send out “Save the Dates” at least eight months in advance.
An out-of-town celebration means more planning time for you and your guests, so the earlier you send notice, the earlier they can start making travel arrangements. At Sand Hollow Resort we have many options for accommodations to make your guests’ experience memorable.
3. Consider accommodations for your guests
Secure a group rate or book one of Sand Hollow Resort’s vacation homes to accommodate the entire wedding party. Keeping everyone at the same location takes the hassle out of transportation and encourages guests to socialize before the big day. Just make sure the resort has availability for all your guests before setting any concrete dates.
4. Visit the venue
Ideally, you’ll want to visit the location at least two times before the big day, if not more. Visit once before booking, and again four months in advance to finalize the details. Tour the premises and select one of Sand Hollow Resort’s premier venues. Choose from a stunning sandstone cove or sweeping fairway views on the driving range. Don’t forget to book both ceremony and reception spaces, in addition to a rehearsal dinner venue and accommodations.
During your preliminary trip, you’ll want to meet with potential vendors, and our resort staff can make recommendations. Try to narrow down your options before doing tastings and making selections on your second trip.
5. Enlist professional help
It is wise to hire a professional planner who specializes in destination wedding planning, especially if you are aren’t familiar with the location. Sand Hollow Resort offers experienced and professional on-site coordinators who will work with your wedding planner to make sure your day is exactly how you imagined.
6. Send out an itinerary
When asking your loved ones to pack up and travel for your special day, communication is key. The last thing you want is a confused wedding party! Send out multiple emails and letters as teasers for the wedding, including an itinerary that lists the festivities, including the rehearsal dinner, cocktail hours, and what to expect for the big day. A packing list is another much-appreciated detail to include.
7. Vet your vendors
Your wedding coordinator will emphasize the importance of meeting with vendors and local suppliers in person. Our resort event staff brings a wealth of experience to the table and pre-vet vendors so they can recommend only the best.
During your meetings, determine whether your ideas align. Working with a vendor who shares in your vision will make the whole experience run smoothly.
8. Dress accordingly
Make sure the wedding party’s attire matches the aura of the setting. Is it timeless? Rustic? Or über chic?
Environmental factors also play a part. If you’re visiting Southern Utah in the summer months, breathable fabric will be your friend. For temperate winters, satin dresses and wool suits are best.
We look forward to working with you to plan the wedding of your dreams–and maybe the honeymoon too! Contact us for more information on booking your perfect wedding in a desert paradise.
