How Long is the Perfect Getaway?
Did you know that happiness experts are a thing?
Being in the resort and vacation industry, we need to keep up to date on vacation trends and the newest information. There are experts who dedicate their entire lives to studying happiness and the art of joy.
You shouldn’t be surprised to learn that vacations are a large part of happiness, especially if you work a Monday-Friday 9-5 type of job. Inflexibility in your leisure time can lead to decreased feelings of joy.
That’s where your vacation time comes in.
As a resort destination, we are huge proponents of vacation days.
But did you know that there is an ideal length for the perfect getaway?
How long should you stay away?
Getting away (and we mean genuinely away) and disconnecting from your work life is a huge part of balancing your professional and personal lives. For that reason, you should consider extending your stay by a few days. A study published in the 2013 Journal of Happiness Studies showed that your happiness doesn’t peak until day 8 of your vacation.
Most Americans are already back home again by day 8 of their vacation. The reason for the delayed peak in vacation bliss is because of how long it takes us to truly disconnect from our professional persona. It takes most of us an average of 2-3 days to stop checking our e-mails or worry about what’s happening back at the office.
So the next time you start to think about getting away, try to aim for a few days more than you think you should or want to take off.
Sand Hollow Resort needs more time than you think.
Our own personal opinions of the length of your stay have to do with taking in everything you can of Southern Utah. The scenery, landscape, activities, and opportunities of the Sand Hollow Resort and Southern Utah take more than 5-7 days to enjoy.
Zion National Park alone takes 2-3 days to explore everything. Between hiking, the water activities, golfing and finding time to relax, to take in everything that the Sand Hollow Resort can offer you during your stay, you should give yourself more time.
Other Happiness experts say ten days.
Between the time it takes to disconnect, travel days, and unexpected travel hiccups, by the time you arrive and start to relax, it’s time to go back home again.
If your job can manage to let you go for ten days, and your budget allows for the extra-long vacation, you will find true happiness and joy in an extended resort stay. Our Guest Services experts can help you plan your visit to the Sand Hollow Resort to attain ultimate vacation bliss.
So instead of rolling over or cashing out those PTO hours this year, add 2-3 extra days onto your next vacation. We promise you that you’ll feel more relaxed while you unwind and disconnect from your professional life.
Take those vacation days as they were intended and book your next stay at the Sand Hollow Resort.
